Leek 'Blauwgroene herfst' BIO De Bolster (1690)

Leek 'Blue-green Autumn' suffers less from wear and tear in late autumn-winter and can tolerate quite a lot of frost. Requires a nourishing and deeply loosened soil.

Because of the slow initial development it is wise to pre-sow leeks (both summer and autumn leeks) thinly from the end of March until mid May and plant out in April at 40x15cm. If necessary put them together in winter and cover in case of severe frost. 1 bag for approx. 10 m².

During the winter months the leeks 'stand still' and the plant will not grow any further; the storability of the leeks in the ground depends on the severity of the winter and to what extent the leeks are in a sheltered place. We advise growers to keep a close eye on the health of the leeks during the winter months; and if the leeks show signs of weakness, we advise harvesting all leeks immediately.
