Fresh snow peas , green peas and capuchins are the trendsetters of the vegetable garden. Problems with plagues and diseases are scarce and that makes it more attractive to grow these crops yourself.
There are two main groups : short types with a length up to 70 cm (stem types) and long types (rise types).
The stem types can be grown without support, but growing them along wire mesh or brushwood also has its advantages: picking is easier and there are no pods on the ground.
The rise types should always be grown through mesh wire. When cultivating along a row of wire mesh you can sow on both sides.
The ground rule for all capuchins, peas and pods is that an early sowing (March/April) gives the best results. Sowing in May or later causes insufficient pod setting and problems with mildew.
