Lettuce 'Red salad bowl' BIO De Bolster (1835)

ZBLDB1835 Lettuce 'Red salad bowl' BIO De Bolster (1835)

Red Salad Bowl' is a slightly curled oak leaf lettuce which is also suitable as a picking lettuce. The colder it gets, the redder the leaves become. Has soft leaves with a sweet taste. Because of the plant type (little crawling) natural enemies such as parasitic wasps and ladybirds can attack the aphids better.

All lettuce varieties are easy to grow. Lettuce has a short growth period (6 to 8 weeks) and it is therefore important to prick out/ transplant the plants in a young stage. Lettuce is especially tasty when you do not fertilise too much. If you want to eat lettuce every week, sow/plant it regularly. The first sowing in a greenhouse can take place as early as March, in open ground from April.

Harvesting: the young leaves are very tender, can be picked regularly or harvested as a head.

TIP: also suitable as a babyleaf (sowing period: May-August)!
