Black Russian, also known as 'Noire de Russie', 'Russian Black', 'Russe Noire' or 'Vene Must', is a tomato species that originated in Russia. The round, flattened fruits grow in clusters of 5 to 6 to an average weight of 100 to 250g. They ripen to a dark red to chocolate-like colour with a green collar at the top over a period of approximately 70 to 80 days. This species is quite resistant to diseases.
The tomatoes have a firm, juicy, brownish flesh and a delicious, sweet taste. They are mostly used in salads and cold dishes.
