Wintercarrot 'Flakkeese 2' BIO De Bolster (2070)

ZWKDB2070 Wintercarrot 'Flakkeese 2' BIO De Bolster (2070)

Winter carrot 'Flakkée 2' are large orange carrots and form a large crop. The carrots are deliciously sweet and can be stored excellently after harvesting.

Winter carrot can only be sown in the months April and May. Sow the seeds directly in the ground. Preferably on raised ridges... Make sure the soil is loosened up nicely. The finer the soil, the better the root can grow straight and long. Keep a row distance of 20 cm. Sow the seeds in rows between your fingers. When the plants emerge, thin out to a planting distance of 20x5 cm. Depending on the desired root thickness, a wider or narrower planting distance can also be maintained. If the planting distance between the roots is greater, the roots will grow faster and the roots will have more room to grow into thicker roots. A smaller planting distance results in thinner carrots.

Problems with the carrot fly are best solved with insect netting; cover fairly soon after emergence. A simple framework/cage works best to keep out the carrot fly.

The carrots can be harvested in October and November. Store the roots in a cool place, sand prevents dehydration. Do not be surprised by mice.
